"A friend told me she and her fiancée had to take something called a FOCCUS Inventory as they prepared for marriage. What is this and what is its purpose?"
A FOCCUS Inventory is a very good instrument used by most Catholic and many Protestant churches to gauge an engaged couple’s compatibility. It is not a test and there are no right answers. The couple individually answers over 150 items. Their answers are then correlated and compared. This serves as a foundation for discussing important issues with them. Its aim is to facilitate open couple communication and understanding. Often, it is given by trained married couples who discuss the outcomes with the couple after it has been scored.
